The
Basque knife
The originality of this traditional Basque knife
comes from the insert of decorative studs. Originally, this knife
was used to cut tobacco leaves in the Bergerac region. As soon as
the planters cut the stalk, the sap used to form a sticky gelatine
that clogged up the knife. This is why, at that time, the knife
was assembled with a very prominent nailing on rosettes.
